A Standing Record

Questions, Answered

Soon — and for good this time. Cal & Kay was founded on the strength of small leather goods made in French ateliers. Headwear came later. We’re returning to our origins this winter with a new range of small leather goods, produced in limited quantity with the same craft standards we started with. When they’re ready, they’ll be here.

We saw an opportunity to bring a different standard to collegiate headwear; the same standard we’d already set for leather goods. The result is headwear that respects the institution it represents and the person wearing it.

If you’re wondering where that conviction comes from, it’s lived experience. Formative years spent in stadiums, arenas, and international competition. Sport isn’t a pivot or trend for Cal & Kay. It’s a natural extension of the world we’ve always been part of.

Some things are worth documenting. The collegiate licensing stories, the ones that came together and the ones that didn’t. The materials, the ateliers, the sourcing decisions most brands never talk about. The products coming and the thinking behind them.

It is not a newsletter. It’s a quarterly dispatch from inside a brand being built with care. Part brand journal, part cultural record, part membership benefit.

We’re rebuilding. The current site served its purpose. The new one reflects where Cal & Kay is going. The leather goods return, the expanded collegiate portfolio, the next chapter. It’ll be ready when the work is ready.
